Palo Santo, Spanish for "Holy Wood", is found in the tropical forests of South America and is used for incense, aromatic oil and indigenous medicine. It is burned for its energetically cleansing and healing properties. It is said the true value of this tree comes after its life of up to 90 years - only after having lain on the ground for 3-4 years does it develop the essential oil.
Sustainability is one of the deciding factors in choosing our current supplier. Not only do they re-cultivate, but they also recover and reclaim de-forested sections of the rainforest in collaboration with the local communities. They strive for sustainability and encourage customers to visit and verify this for themselves. We are pleased to share that to date, over 200 hectares of land has been cultivated, reclaimed or recovered to the rainforest by our supplier.
Palo Santo trees are strictly regulated by the government in Peru. Suppliers who do not follow the environmental regulations have their goods confiscated.
